Dear Kate Wolf Music Festival Community and Music Lovers,
The 25th annual Kate Wolf Music Festival celebration, postponed until next June, will be recognizing this year's planned weekend with a series of live streaming and pre-recorded concert sets from acts that were scheduled to perform at this years festival, plus both a yoga and Pilates zoom class.
We are grateful to the performers and teachers that have stepped forward to donate their time for this endeavor. We are advocating for donations to two different food banks, one in Mendocino County (Laytonville Healthy Start) and one in Sonoma County (Redwood Empire Food Bank) through the festival.
*About the charities:
Laytonville Healthy Start is a Family & Community Resource Center serving Laytonville and the surrounding area since 1997. Since COVID-19 hit, Healthy Start is offering a weekly meal program for the community's senior citizens and those home-bound due to illness. Healthy Start also offers an emergency food pantry as well as a wide variety of services, including but not limited to: clothing closet, health insurance and food stamp application assistance, public computers, programs for kids and parents and much more.
The Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, the REFB has been helping our community through 11 innovative programs under three strategic initiatives – Every Child, Every Day, Senior Security and the Neighborhood Hunger Network. They respond to the immediate needs of people seeking help through the provision of healthy food and nutrition education and pursue long-term solutions to food insecurity through public policy and the development of partnerships with civic, faith-based, corporate and government organizations and, most importantly, individuals in our community.
There will also be links directly to both the performers and teachers if you would like to donate to them.
The concert sets will take place on both of our festival Facebook pages:
https://www.facebook.com/events/601470337259671/, and the yoga and Pilates classes will take place on Zoom.
These events will take place during the days that were previously planned for this year's event, June 25 – 28. The current schedule is posted below and any updates or added information can be seen on our Facebook pages.
We also plan to start rolling out the names of acts that were scheduled for this year's festival that have already agreed and confirmed that they plan to stay on the line-up for next year's rescheduled event on June 24 – 27. We are happy to report that at this stage the majority of the performers have said yes to this.
We do hope you tune in and enjoy our first, and hopefully not annual, virtual festival experience.
