Brendan-Phillips
“Music and movement building go hand in hand… If we can’t sing together, how can we win together?” – Brendan Phillips

Brendan Phillips, son of Utah Phillips, has performed a number of times at the festival over the past several years, his performance taking a different form each time. In 2012, his band Fast Rattler put a new spin on some of Utah’s classics, including some his father had never recorded or performed. In 2013, he teamed up with a number of Utah’s old hobo brethren to form “The Caterwaulin’ Caravan”.

Brendan returns this year after a 2-year break from touring that saw him shifting gears to get his master’s degree in social work. For Brendan, social work was a natural fit for a deeper exploration of the themes of social justice and struggle that run through his father’s music and the music of countless peoples’ movements the world over. Rooted in the spirit of collaboration, Brendan will be joined by Joe Stevens (Coyote Grace) and Drew De Man (Fast Rattler, Pretend Sweethearts)
