The Bootleg Honeys

About an hour north of the Golden Gate, tucked between the endless vineyards and dairy farms of Sonoma County, California, there is a steady and ever-evolving Americana music scene that has been nurtured for many years by a community in love with live roots music.
The Bootleg Honeys are a trio of women raised in this rich tradition. Their sweet and lively sound features delicious three part harmony and fine musicianship. With more than two hundred impeccably crafted original tunes between them, Alison Harris, Hannah Jern-Miller, and Katie Phillips make up what Bill Bowker of KRSH radio calls “a breath of fresh air.”
All three Bootleg Honeys grew up in passionately musical families. Alison’s grandfather was a Hollywood composer rubbing elbows with the likes of Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. Her father, Vance, is a retired elementary music teacher, and is an accomplished pianist and composer as well. Katie’s dad, Mike Phillips, is a celebrated veteran of the Sonoma County Country-Western scene and had Katie up on stage belting out Country classics by the times she was 5 years old. Coincidentally, Alison’s father was Katie’s elementary school music teacher (she still has a hard time not calling him ‘Mr. Harris’!). Hannah’s father, the late Ken Miller, was a skilled Americana guitarist, pianist, and singer. He nurtured Hannah’s skills as a guitar player and singer-songwriter with his love for Blues, Folk, and Country music.
The Bootleg Honeys have played at large and small California venues with a number of great artists, including The Great American Music Hall with The White Buffalo (San Francisco), Sweetwater Music Hall with Albert Lee (Mill Valley), The Kate Wolf Music Festival (Kate Wolf Tribute Set) with Joan Baez, The Indigo Girls, The Wood Brothers, and Garth Hudson, KRSH Earle Fest with Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Sonny Landreth (Santa Rosa). They regularly play to full houses at hometown venues like McNear’s Mystic Theatre, Hopmonk, and Twin Oaks Tavern in collaboration with local artists The Brother’s Comatose, David Luning, The Easy Leaves, and Eric Lindell.
In a very short time these three women have quickly become Sonoma County favorites in live music scene. With an undeniable chemistry, and appreciation for songwriting and music making, The Bootleg Honeys are bound to make you smile, stomp your feet and leave you wanting more!
